My Hosta Garden!

In the Fall of 2008 I decided to plant a Hosta Garden under the pine tree next to the house. My husbands parents planted this tree shortly after they built the house at the tail end of WW2. These pictures start from 2008 and go to 2015.

Making Maple Syrup

My three brothers, Donnie, Denny and Larry making maple syrup.  We have done this for years. I remember my parents doing this when I was little. What a wonderful tradition and it tastes so good. You need 40 to 50 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup. The sap is cooked down in the outside cooker and then the final straining and bottling is done inside the trailer. Quite often they make pancakes in the trailer too and eat them with the fresh hot syrup. Mmmmmm good!!!

Jana's Wedding Quilt

Here's the wedding quilt before it's sewn together and without borders. I haven't taken a picture yet but it's done. Which is good because the wedding is next Saturday. Carol Schumann made the quilt for her daughter and I helped a little.

Another Quilt Done

Double Irish Chain that I've been working on for quite a few years. The yellow fabric has blueberries on it. I put it away when I ran out of the light blue I needed for the border. So I had to get a little creative with the fabric I had left. I think it turned out okay.

Quilting

My it's hard to believe I haven't posted anything since August. I've been trying to finish several UFO's (Unfinished Objects) in my quilt cupboard. So I'm going to post some pictures.

My Garden Lady

In 2007 I decided to start a new flower garden.  I had help to do all the work involved and I like how it turned out.  As I was looking through gardening magazines I found one that had an unusual "scarecrow."  She was dressed as a lady.  I asked my husband if he could weld me a frame to put the dress and hat on.  The following pictures are how I dressed My Lady in the last 7 years.  Some of the dresses came from my closet.  Now I get them at thrift shops.
